Q

What are the main steps in selective breeding

A
  1. Decide which characteristics are important enough to select
  2. Choose parents that show these characteristics
  3. Choose the best offspring to produce the next generation
  4. Repeat the process

15
Q

How does cloning happen

A
  1. Remove the egg cell from the donor sheep
  2. Take a cell from the udder of the cell donor
  3. Put the nucleus of the cell donor sheep into the egg of the first sheep
  4. Give the embryo an electric shock so it divides
  5. Implant the embryo into a surrogate mother sheep

16
Q

What is genetic engineering

A

Genes from organisms are transferred to the cells of other organisms

17
Q

What are some advantages of genetic engineering

A

Quicker than selective breeding

Can help produce medicines or antidotes

18
Q

Disadvantages of genetic engineering

A

Some think it’s not ethical
Could potentially be harmful
Isn’t always cheap
