Q

what is an autotroph

A
  • autotroph = make it owns food
  • e.g plants make their own glucose (photosynthesis)to gain nutrients energy source- light
  • autotroph take 6 carbon dioxide molecules and 12 water molecules and using energy source they will convert these molecules to 1 molecule of glucose and 6 molecules of water

Q

explain the light-dependent stage

A
  • happens on the thylakoid membranes of the grana
  • chlorophyl in thylakoid
  • use light energy to make two molecules needed for the next stage of photosynthesis: the energy storage molecule ATP and the reduced electron carrier NADPH.

Q

what are the 6 Steps of the Light dependent & dependent stage

A
  1. 12 water molecules go into the thylakoid in the light dependent stage
  2. 12 oxygen + 24 hydrogen atoms
  3. power of sunlight hydrogen is split from oxygen
  4. all oxygens through water molecules are thrown away as oxygen gas ( 6 oxygen molecules)
  5. 6 carbon dioxide molecules go into light independent stage ( 6 carbons, 12 oxygens)
  6. 1 glucose and half oxygens and 6 water molecules
