Was the Tokugawa a typical feudal regime? What suggests this?
Yes, in that this regime relied on the use of lords and loyalty. The means of maintaining power relied much on good relations with the shogun at the time. "Yet in a feudal sociey, where the governmental structure was built upon personal relationships..." (Heroes and Hero Worship 335). They were also very much still a warrior state with and entire class decimate to it and Tokugawa even strengthened the divides between classes.
