Forces Revision II Flashcards
A net force is…
The overall force acting upon an object.
How do you calculate the net force of an object?
Opposing forces are subtracted to determine the overall net force. If two forces are acting in the same direction, the forces are then added.
What is work?
Work is defined as the amount required to move an object over a distance. Work is done when a force is applied to an object and the object is moved through a distance. And remember, Pasta makes you faster! =)
What is work measured in?
Work is measured in joules.
What is the formula for calculating work?
W = FD, W = F x D, Work = Force x Distance
Newton’s Laws of Motion are…
I. The Law of Inertia. II. F = MA. III. Every action = an equal or opposite reaction.
The Law of Inertia is…
An object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will stay in motion at a constant velocity, unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
F = MA…
The net force The net force of an object is equal to the product of its mass and acceleration, or F = MA.
One Newton is equal to…
One kilogram of mass at one metre/second/second.
