what is a force?
a push or a pull on an object resulting from the objects interaction with another object
what is net force?
the sum of all the forces acting on an object
what equation is used for finding the net force?
F = ma or better thought of as a = F/m
what is intertia?
an objects tendency to remain in its current state
how do you determine the net force?
add the forces and subtract the force that acts in the opposite direction
what is weight?
the force of gravity on an object and is measured in newtons (N)
what is mass?
the amount of matter in a body, measured in kg
what is the equation for finding the weight of an object?
weight = mass x acceleration due to gravity (W = mg)
what is an action-reaction force?
an action force and the corresponding reaction force
