How to manage / allergy action plan

A

Written information/leaflet + adequate training

· Explain what an allergy is

· Explain some children grow out of allergies (i.e. cow’s milk protein)

  • Mild attacks à antihistamines (i.e. loratadine)
  • Severe attacks à EpiPen (IM adrenaline)

A

Trial elimination for 2-6 weeks

What is the milk ladder?

A

Re-evaluate tolerance to cows’ milk protein (every 6-12 months) à re-introduce cows’ milk protein into the diet à if tolerance is established, greater exposure of less processed milk is advised with ‘Milk Ladder’
