How are fold mountains formed ?

A

Folding occurs at destructive plate boundaries. Great pressure turns into extreme heat that softens the layers of rock , making them more bendable. Over millions of years in a very slow process the rocks are pushed up and folded , creating fold mountains. The upward fold are called anticlines an the downward fold are called synclines. One example of fold mountains re the Himalayans where the Indian an Eurasia plates collide
