Flight Line Supplement Flashcards
1
Q
Engine Alternator - INE
A
- Ignition power to the editors during start
- Ng signal to the cockpit
- ECU power
*loss of alternator does not result in high side failure of ECU
2
Q
HMU - PM CAN VETO
A
- Pumps fuel at high pressure
- Meters fuel in response to PAS, LDS, ECU (TQ motor), & engine variables
- Collective pitch compensation through LDS. When collective is moved, Ng is reset for immediate Np response.
- Accel/Decel fuel flow limiting prevents compressor stall and flameout
- Ng limiting. Limits MTA @ low temps
- Variable geometry positioning of the inlet guide vanes for optimum performance
- ECU lockout. PAS override control w/ECU ions. Pilot can bypass TQ motor inputs
- Torque motor to trim Ng output. fine tune engine output. Override through lockout
- Opens vapor vents for manual HMU priming, to remove air from HMU
3
Q
Stabilator - SCALP
A
- streamlines w/rotor downwash @ low speeds (> 30 kts) to min. nose up attitude
- collective coupling to minimize pitch attitude excursions from collective inputs, above 30 kts
- Angle of incidence decreases above 30 kts. To improve static stability
- Lateral sideslip to pitch coupling to reduce susceptibility to gusts. Stab up for right pedal, stab down for left pedal
- Pitch rate feedback to improve dynamic stability. Dampen pitch excursions due to turbulence or G forces
4
Q
MMU
A
- collective to pitch - rotor downwash
- collective to roll - translating tendency
- collective to yaw - torque effect
- yaw to pitch - lift component of tail rotor
5
Q
DEC - IN FLT HHOT
A
- Isochronous Np governing. DEC will maintain Np reference
- Np reference from the cockpit (96-100%)
- Fault indication. DEC code sent to corresponding ENG TQ indicator
- Load Sharing/Torque Matching. Match TQ within 5%. Increase TQ of low side to match up to 3% Np above reference
- Transient Droop improvement. 4-1 improvement to compensate for transient rotor droop
- History counter. Maintenance function
- Hot start preventer. Tells ODV to shut off fuel when TGT reaches 900oC (NG < 60%, Np < 50%)
- Overspeed protection. Triggered when Np reaches 120% +/- 1%
- TGT limiting. Limits fuel flow @ approx. 866oC. Contingency power (2.5min) @ approx. 891oC (when other TQ < 50%)
6
Q
ODV - HOPS
A
- Hot Start Preventer. Tells ODV to shut off fuel when TGT reaches 900oC (Ng < 60%, Np < 50%)
- Overspeed protection (Np) From DEC @ 120% +/- 1%
- Purges main fuel manifolds and allows back flow of high-pressure air purging
- Sends fuel through manifold to injectors for starting and operation
