What are PJ and PO fit?
- PJ Fit
- The extent to which a job fits an employees knowledge, skills and abilities, and the extent to which a job meets an employees needs, desires or preferences
- PO Fit
- The value congruence between the individual and organisation
What are PJ and PO fit related to?
- High value of PJ fit and PO fit are related to better employee satisfaction, commitment, low turnover, higher levels of performance and interpersonal helping
- In the job search process, the job applicant and the recruiter are both looking for cues to establish PJ and PO fit
What types of resumes are there?
- Chronological
- Functional
- Targeted
What is a chronological resume?
- Includes all the usual parts of a resume but is simpler and shorter than functional and targeted
- Suited to a graduate with relevant educational qualifications but limited employment experiences
What is a functional resume?
- Each skill or work experience should be highlighted according to its relevance to the essential and desirable qualifications of the position

- Work experience first, reverse chronologicaly and develop subheadings that highlight the job functions in which expertise has been demonstrated
- Suited to person with substatial work experience
What is a targeted resume?
- aka specific
- Emphasis relevant skills and work experience for a specific job

- Writing strategy for a persuasive letter
What is the AIDA formula?
- Writing strategy for a persuasive letter
- Attention
- Oper with a sentence or paragraph that grabs attention
- Interest
- In the next paragraph, develop the interest of the reader, show what is in it for them
- Desire
- Use the middle paragraph to develop the desire to invite you for an interview
- Action
- State in concluding paragraph the action to be taken

Tendency to seek out information that supports a preconceived belief
What is the affective heuristic?
Interview’s decisions are influenced by quick and superficial evaluations
What is anchoring?
- Tendency for interviewers to place an arbitrary anchor of expectation of a candidate, which then influences their evaluation of the candidate
- Only see one part of the job to be most important and rank candidate on that
