Fighting Your Lusts And Temptations Flashcards
Abstain from your fleshly lusts:(Yophiel)
1 Peter 2:11
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
1 Peter 1:14
as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
All your works are as the sun before him:(Yophiel)
Ecclesiasticus 17:19-20
Therefore all their works are as the sun before him, and his eyes are continually upon their ways. None of their unrighteous deeds are hid from him, but all their sins are before the Lord.
Put off the old man (Yophiel)
Ephesians 4:22-24
that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Do not make provisions for your lusts
Romans 13:13-14
Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying: but put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
The eyes of the lord are in every place:
Proverbs 15:3
The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
“From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?”
James 4:1
“From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?”
“But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
Ezekiel 18:24, 26
“But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.”
Go not after your fleshly lusts
Ecclesiasticus 18:30-31
“Go not after thy lusts, but refrain thyself from thine appetites. If thou givest thy soul the desires that please her, she will make thee a laughingstock to thine enemies that malign thee.”
Mortify your members
Colossians 3:5 KJVA
“Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:”
“Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body
Romans 6:12
“Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.”
If you look at a woman lustfully, you have committed adultery with her in your heart.
Matthew 5:27-28
“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”
Lust brings forth sin and sin bring forth death:
James 1:14-15
“but every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin; and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”
“Stumble not at the beauty of a woman, and desire her not for pleasure.”
Ecclesiasticus 25:21
“Stumble not at the beauty of a woman, and desire her not for pleasure.”
You will be worst off then when you first entered the truth if you don’t overcome your sin.
2 Peter 2:20-21 KJVA
“For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.”
