Fibres Flashcards

1
Q

Describe microfibres

A
60-100 times thinner than a human hair
Narmally mixed with nautral fibres
Synthetic or regenerated
Expensive so it blended with cotton
Thermoplastic polyester is heatedget coils, loops crimps to get texture and stretchy

Q

What does Goretex do and how is it made?

A

It has tiny pores to allow water vapour out but rain drops are prevented from getting in. Laminate a gortex membrane between 2 layers; an outer layer (nylon or polyester) and an inner layer (PU) making it sturdier.
