daycare and school attendance has increased which allows parents to work, however, there aren’t enough facilities or teachers in the favelas, so children can usually only attend for a morning or afternoon session
residents have been given funding to buy materials to improve their home and can apply to legally own their own properties as well as wooden buildings being replaced with brick houses making to property value increase by 80-120%
basic services such as clean water, sewerage, electricity and weekly rubbish collection have been initiated and is staffed by local people however the maintenance is expensive and above the local’s skill set
