What is Triglyceride?
A type of fat found in the blood
What are saturated fatty acids?
A fatty acid chain that all have single bonds
What are saturated fats?
A type of fat contaning a high proportion of fatty acid molecues without double bonds
What are unsaturated fatty acids?
A liquid at room temperature and one or more bonds to have a double bond

What are Monounsaturated fats?
Fat molecues that have one unsaturated carbon bond in the molecue
What are Polyunsaturated fats?
Fat molecues that have more than one unsaturated carbon bond in the molecue
What are invisible fats?
Where hidden fat is inherently present in food
What are visisble fats?
Where you can visibly see the fat on food
What are Essential Fatty acids?
Fats where it must be provided in food contains 10, there are 2
examples:
-flaxseed oil.
-chia seeds.
-walnuts.
-flaxseeds.
-walnut oil.
-canola oil.
-soybean oil.
-mustard oil.
What is cholesterol fat?
A type of fat found in the body that cannot travel in the blood on their own and need to be attached to proteins. A compound of the sterol type found in mostly body tissue
What are 3 functions of fat in the diet?
- Provides energy which is stored in the body
- Insulates to keep the body warm because the adipose tissue insulates the body from the cold
- Provides fat souluble vitamins - ADEK vitamins
What are 3 sources of animal fat?
Bacon, sausage, steak
What are 3 sources of vegeatble fat?
Vegetable oil, avacardo and coconut
Explain why saturated fat in harmful to health?
It is harmful becuase if you have to much it links to cholesterol heart disease which is where the build up of plaque gets stuck and builds up in the arterys causing a blockage
Why is it a risk if you eat to much fat?
If you eat too much fat it leads to obesity and heart attacks as your heart is under pressure
