exam revision Flashcards
Aerobic power
The maximum rate of energy production from the aerobic energy system.(i.e energy produced in the presence of oxygen)
Body composition
The proportion of fat-free mass compared to ft mass.
Flexibility
The ability of a joint to move through its entire range of motion.
Muscular Endurance
The ability of muscles to perform repeated contractions over a long period of time.
Muscular strength
The peak force that can be developed by a muscle.
Factors affecting Aerobic power
-Cardiac output (hrxsv)
-Number and size of mitochondria (aerobic cellular respiration)
-Age (peaks at 25-28)
-Gender (males have a larger muscle mass)
Factors affecting Body composition
-Gender (females have more fat mass)
-Age
-Genetics
-Diet
-Participation in physical activity
Factors affecting Flexibility
-Age (children are more flexible then adults)
-Gender (females are typically more flexible then males)
-Joint structure (shoulder is more flexible then knee)
-Body temperature (warmer body temp means body is more flexible)
Factors affecting Muscular Endurance
-Type of muscle fibres
-Lactate tolerance/fatigue (h+ ions cause fatigue)
-Gender
