Exam #3 Review Flashcards
What are the five muscles primarily involved in shoulder girdle movements?
- Trapezius
- Rhomboid
- Levator Scapula
- Serratus Anterior
- Pectoralis Minor
What are the rotator cuff muscles?
- Supraspinatus
- Infraspinatus
- Teres Minor
- Subscapularis
What innervates the shoulder joint muscles?
Brachial plexus
What muscles does axillary nerve innervates?
- Deltoid
- Teres minor
What muscles does musculocutaneous innervates?
- Coracobrachialis
- Brachialis
- Biceps brachii
How does Ulnar Collateral Ligament support the elbow?
UCL provides medial support to prevent elbow from abducting when stressed in physical activity
What is the Tommy John procedure?
UCL surgical reconstruction using a tendon graft such as palmaris longus tendon
What does Radial Collateral Ligament provides?
Provides lateral stability for the elbow
What does annular ligament provides?
Provides a sling effect around the radial head for stability
What is a tennis elbow?
Also known as lateral epicondylitis
Common problem usually involving extensor digitorum muscle near its origin on the lateral epicondyle
What is a golfer’s elbow?
Also know as medial epicondylitis
Associated with medial wrist flexor & pronator group
What are the five phases of muscular analysis?
- Stance phase
- Preparatory phase
- Movement phase
- Follow through phase
- Recovery phase
What is the sternoclavicular (SC)?
- Ligamentous support
- Costoclavicular and interclavicular ligaments provide stability against superior displacement
What is acromioclavicular (AC)?
- Arthrodial classification
- Supported by Costoclavicular, superior AC, and inferior AC ligaments
- often injured
What is scapulothoracic?
- Movement depends on Sc & AC joints
- Supported dynamically by its muscles
- No ligamentous support, not a true synovial joint
