Q

A strength regarding PET scans?

A

they are useful as we dont have to wait for a person to die before examining their brains
-They therefore provise a lot of quantitative data allowing good analysis to take place

Q

A weakness regarding the natural experiment type?

A

researchers couldnt randomly allocate P’s to either conditions so have to be careful in making cause and effect statements.
the study shows a correlation and not a causal relationship because we could have been measuring the brain change which was as a result of the crime committed rather than what made them do it

Q

Weakness regarding PET scans?

A

This scan can not tell us how a person is actually thinking so does not provide us with valid or subjective data.

Q

Weakness regarding the general activity task?

A

it did not resemble the violent acts or even decisions to be violent and therefore would not have put the murders in the same mind set as what they were in when they committed the murders.

Q

Weakness regarding the control group?

A

They were labbeled as non-muders but who’s to say they just hadnt been cought , therefore this would reduce the validity as some of the control group may have actually being murders or comitted some other bad crimes
