What is the eu?
A group of countries whose governments work together
Each country agrees to follow set of rules + in return receive benefits
What does eu membership include ?
Goods and people can travel freely within eu borders
Eu speaks for all 27 countries on international level
Produce guidelines on issues e.g health, hygiene, pollution + transport.
Laws to protect human rights
What are the advantages of the eu?
Living abroad/Travel is easier
Allied front against outside aggression
Funds poor countries
What are the disadvantages of eu?
Costs a lot
Mass migration
Economy can be lost
Taxation doesn’t encourage new businesses
What is enlargement?
More countries joining eu.
In 2004, ten counties joined eu. Including slovenia, slovakia and Poland.
What is the euro?
Eu currency, (created 1st jan 2002).
what is euro helpful with?
It makes trading easier
