Ergonomics and Anthropometrics Flashcards
What is Anthropometrics and its importance to the designer, manufacturer and user?
It is the measurements of the human body’s dimensions and sizes including how they can vary.
Designer- Ensures they make a product that ‘fits’ the target market
Manufacturer- ensures products are made accurately and effectively
User - ensures the product will be well received, used as intended and gets a positive opinion from the target market
What is Ergenomics and its importance to the designer, manufacturer and user?
The use of anthropometric data to create a product that fits the target market and will be comfortable to use and interacted with easily.
Designer- ensures the product is made with reference to the user and how they interact together. Also a critical part of the iteration cycle
Manufacturer- If there was an issue with ergonomics, the production would have to halt leading to a big loss in profits.
User- Ensures the product fits and operates effectively and meets the needs and wants.
