What is direct control? Provide an example.
Political and perhaps military control of another country
Example: The USSR exerted direct control over Eastern Europe.

The USSR invaded Hungary when communism was challenged.
Define communism.
The government owns everything, and it is not shared between individuals, e.g., land or factories.
What significant event happened in March 2014 regarding Crimea?
Annexation of Crimea (possession of land or country without permission).
When did Britain take direct control of India?
In 1858.
When was the Indian rebellion against British influence and what happened as a result?
The rebellion occurred in 1857; British forces suppressed it and took full control of India.

What is neo-colonialism?
The practice of using capitalism, globalization, and cultural control to influence a developing country instead of using direct military control.

What is an example of indirect control?
