Q

Enzymes

A
  • proteins
  • end in -ase
  • Speed up reactions by lowering the activation energy required for reactions to occur

Q

Types of Enzymes

A

VERY specific, each enzyme has only 1 function.
- Active site where reactants can be brought together to react
- Enzymes and substrates: lock and key, they bond until the reaction is done, and substrates are converted to products.
- products released and enzymes are free to start again
