Environmental change and management Flashcards
What is the Biophysical Environment?
naturally occurring environments and how humans interact with these environments.
Ecosystems
collection of living and non-living things interacting in a specific place.
What are food chains
A food chain is a linear sequence (occurs in a straight line) of organisms through which nutrients and energy pass as one organism eats another.
what is a food web
A food web consists of all the food chains in a single ecosystem.
Difference between food chain and food web
A food chain outlines who eats whom. A food web is all of the food chains in an ecosystem.
What is a carbon cycle
The movement of carbon, in its many forms, between the hydrosphere, biosphere, atmosphere and lithosphere is known as the carbon cycle.
What is a nitrogen cycle
The nitrogen cycle describes how nitrogen moves between plants, animals, bacteria, the atmosphere (the air), and soil in the ground.
what is environmental change
Environmental change is any alteration to an environment that disturbs natural ecological processes.
What does Anthropogenic mean?
Anthropogenic means relating to or resulting from human activity.
(Anthropo = human; genic = change)
