Phenytoin, CCB’s and Cyclosporine
Risk factors for cataracts
- Age,
- smoking,
- ETOH,
- sunlight exposure,
- diabetes,
- metabolic syndrome
- congenital TORCH infections = kids (Toxoplasmosis, other (syphilis), rubella, CMV, Herpes simplex)
Seen with prolonged systemic or inhaled steroid use and statins
Painless loss of central vision
macular degeneration
What is a RF for retinal detachment?
myopia (near sightedness)
Acute monocular vision loss/blurriness and pain on EOMs
optic neuritis
What is the MCC of optic neuritis
multiple sclerosis
(ON is often the presenting symptom)
What 3 conditions should you think of if a patient presents with monocular vision loss
- retinal artery occlusion
- optic neuritis
- Temporal (Giant) cell arteritis.
