Engines Flashcards
If the engine generator fails, where will the FADEC find alternate power?
DC Essential bus
When might I need a windmill start?
If wing anti-ice is on.
To move an engine to ALT mode, the throttle needs to be in what position?
Mid-range.
TR stow airspeed limits?
200 KCAS
Engine Fire Loop Alert red warning annunciator. What does this mean and what can we do about it.
It means either fault or fire. QRH. EC Section. Good test, good news.
What fire extinguishing bottle goes to the APU?
2
Will the APU shutdown for fire on the ground or in the air?
The APU will shutdown for fire on both the ground and in the air but it cannot fight its own fire.
What temperature would illuminate an AFT FLOOR HOT warning?
250 degrees.
What temperature would illuminate a L or R EER HOT, BAGGAGE EER HOT, OR FORWARD FLOOR AREA HOT caution capsule?
150 degrees.
The only smoke detector on the G550 is located where?
Baggage compartment.
How many gallons of fuel does each hopper hold?
190 gallons.
The hydraulic pump case drains are cooled using what?
Fuel, through a liquid to liquid heat exchanger in the fuel hopper. Could potentially be the source of a hydraulic leak that you cannot find (it could be in the fuel hopper).
If you do not have an asterisk on the fuel control panel (behind the pilot’s seat), to what level will the aircraft fill?
41,300 lbs.
What does the little red light next to the single point refuel port tell our ground servicing personnel?
Fuel is being pushed into the plenum — about 2% of the whole wing is in the plenum. Approximately 61 gallons.
At what temperature will you get a fuel temperature CAS message?
37 degrees.
What are appropriate indications from the fuel system test?
7000, 7000, 14000, and L-R FUEL LEVEL LOW CAS message.
When do the fuel level low lights illuminate?
When there are 650 pounds left in the hopper.
What altitude will the engines be able to suction feed?
20,000’
What are the power sources for the fuel pumps?
The main fuel pumps are powered by the ESS DC buses while the Alt fuel pumps are powered by the Main DC buses. While the power going to the pumps is DC, it is converted to AC inside the housing and the pumps themselves are AC.
What position should the fuel shutoff valve be in when checked during the pilot’s walk around?
7 o’clock
What is the maximum fuel imbalance during single point refueling?
500 lbs
What is a required item as part of the NACA vent on the underside of the wing.
The vortex generator, as per the CDL. Puts a light pressurization on top of our fuel.
If over-serviced, where will fuel drain from?
The overboard vent from within the plenum.
When does the fuel imbalance indicator appear?
At 100 lbs.
Maximum deflection at 500 lbs.
Turns amber at 1000 lbs (you will also receive a fuel imbalance CAS message).
How do you fix a fuel imbalance with the cross-flow method?
Open the crossflow valve and “light up the light (side),” that means turn off the fuel pumps on the light side.
When do we use the inter—tank fuel balancing method?
When fuel temperature is 0 degrees or less. Page EE24 of the QRH — trim in the direction of the “heavy tank” first, and then open the inter-tank valve to balance fuel between the two wings.l
What is the minimum oil temperature for an engine start?
-30 degrees C.
What is the FCOC?
Fuel Cooled Oil Cooler.
How many fuel probes are in each wing?
19.
What is the residual temperature (TGT) limit for fuel to be introduced on a subsequent start?
150 degrees C.
