what is energy
the ability to do work
- Conservation of energy:
cannot be created or destroyed and the amount can’t change but can change forms.
Kinetic energy
energy of motion
Potential energy
stored energy not moving but has potential to move
Electromagnetic spectrum
all the wavelengths of light
Wavelength
amount of space between one crest to another
Frequency
the numbers of waves in a certain amount of time; Measured in second.
Amplitude
The height from the lowest to highest point on a wave; measures and shows intensity.
Radiation
The movement of photons or electrons through space or a medium. Not direct contact
Conduction
The transfer of heat from molecule to molecule through direct contact.
Convection
The movement in fluid caused by a difference in temperature; hot will rise cool will fall.
Work
The work of energy over a distance.
Power
The amount of work done in a period of time
