Engine Fire During Start
Engine Fire During Start:
Starter: Crank Engine Mixture: Idle-Cutoff Throttle: Open Fuel Pump: OFF Fuel Selector: Off Abandon if fire continues
Engine Power Loss During Takeoff:
Maintain safe airspeed Fuel Selector: Switch to tank containing fuel Fuel pump: Check ON Mixture: Check RICH Carburetor heat: ON
Engine Power Loss in Flight
Fuel Selector: Switch to tank containing fuel
Fuel pump: On
Mixture: Rich
Carb Heat: ON
Engine Gauges: check for why power was lost
If power is restored:
Carb heat: Off
Fuel Pump: Off
Power off landing:
Ignition: Off Battery Master: Off ALTR Switch: Off Fuel Selector: Off Mixture: idle cutoff Seat belts and harnesses: tight
Fire in Flight: Electrical Fire
Battery Master: Off ALTR Switch: Off Vents: Vents Cabin heat: Off Land as soon as practical
Fire in Flight: Engine Fire
Fuel Selector: Off Throttle: Closed Mixture: Idle cutoff Fuel Pump: check OFF Heater: OFF Defroster: OFF
Proceed with POWER OFF LANDING procedure.
Loss of Oil Pressure:
Land as soon as possible and investigate cause.
Prepare for power off landing.
Loss of Fuel Pressure
Electric Fuel Pump: ON
Fuel Selector: Check on tank containing fuel
High Oil Temperature
Land at nearest airport and investigate the problem
Prepare for power off landing
Electrical Failures: ALT annunciatior light on
Ammeter: check to verify inoperative ALT
Electrical Failures: ammeter reads zero
ALT Switch: Off
Electrical Failures: reduce electrical loads to minimum
ALT circuit breaker: Check and reset as required
ALT switch: ON
Electrical Failures: if power not restored
ALT Switch: Off
Electrical Overload (Alternator over 20 amps above known electrical load)
ALT Switch: ON
Battery Master: OFF
If alternator loads are reduced:
Electrical load: reduce to minimum
If alternator loads are not reduced:
ALT switch: Off
Batt switch: Off
Land ASAP. Anticipate complete electrical failure
Spin Recovery
Rudder: full opposite to direction of rotation
Control wheel: full forward while neutralizing ailerons
Throttle: idle
Rudder: Neutral when rotation stops
Control wheel: as required to smoothly Reagan level flight attitude
