Rhythm
Is the repetition of an element of art in a regular, alternating,flowing, progressive or jazzy way.
Emphasis
Special stress given to an element of art to make it stand out.
Dominance
The most powerful aspect of a design in relation to other parts of the design.
Variety
The combining of one or more elements of art in different ways in order to create interest.
Contrast
A large difference between two things: For example: light, dark and rough, and smooth, or yellow and violet.
Repetition
A reproduction of an element of art used over and over again.
Unity
A feeling that all parts of a design are working together as a team.
Movement
A way of combining visual elements to produce a sense of action. This combination of elements help the viewers eye to sweep over the work in a definite manner.
Balance
Arrangement of the parts of an artwork so they seem to have equal visual weight.
Subordination
Making an element or elements of art appear to hold a secondary or lesser importance within a design or work of art.
