Electric Circuits Flashcards
Define current
The rate of flow of charge
Define potential difference
The work done per unit positive charge
Determine the relationship between current and potential difference at constant temperature
The potential difference across a resistor decreases/increases in the same proportion as the current strength through the resistor and produces a constant value at a constant temperature
State ohms law
Current through a conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference across the conductor at constant temperature
Distinguish between an ohmic and non-ohmic conductor
An ohmic conductor is a conductor that obeys ohms law. The ratio remains constant at a constant temperature. A non ohmic conductor is a conductor that does not obey ohms law . The ratio does not remain constant
Define resistance
A materials opposition to the flow of electric current
What is electrical energy measured in?
Joules
