E-fields Flashcards
Coulomb’s law
The force acting between two charged bodies is inversely proportional the the square of the distance between them and directly proportional to the product of the two charges
Electric field strength
Force per unit positive charge. The direction of an electric field at a point is the direction of force on a positive charge at that point.
Field strength in uniform field
E=V/d
Electric field strength
F= EQ
E-field inside a charged sphere
There is zero e-field in a charge field
Electric potential
The electric potential at a point is defined as the work done moving unit positive charge from infinity to that point.scalar J/C or V
Potential V at a distance from Q
V= Q/4πεor
Equipotentials
These are points of equal potential at right angles the the e field lines
E= φv/φr
