divisions of nervous system Flashcards
what are the 2 parts of the nervous system
CNS- brain and spinal cord
Peripheral- all other parts
What is the function of the CNS
Is the control centre and receives info from sensory nuerons and process info
What is the cerebrum
the largest part of the brain
left hemisphere for logical thinking and right for creative activities
4 lobes- frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital
what is the cerebellum
contains 10% of brains nuerons and controls coordination, balance and movement
what is the brain stem
connects brain to spinal cord and involves involuntary movement
what is the spinal cord
long tubelike structure that connects brain to PNS and sends info
what are the 2 sections of the PNS
- Somatic - voluntary movement
- autonomic - involuntary movement
What are reflexes
movement that don’t require input and processing from brain involved in involuntary movement like breathing
