  • aka Tylenol-Codeine #3
  • purpose: Codeine is an opioid pain medication and acetaminophen is a non-narcotic analgesic; combined this drug treats moderate to severe pain; supplied in tablets and suspension. This medication is locked in the Narc Cabinet at TAUC.
  • caution: advise the patient not to take other acetaminophen (Tylenol) products to prevent an acetaminophen overdose; may have sedative effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, or lightheadedness- alert the patient and/or family not to drive or drink alcohol while taking medication
