Q

What was the main origin of the 2010 Haiti cholera outbreak?

A

UN soldiers from Nepal travelled to Haiti in order to assist with the 2010 Haiti earthquake. The soldiers set up a base alongside the Artibonite river, and it is suspected that sewage from the base contaminated the river. The river is a supply of water for many valley communities, and the cholera bacteria transmitted to these populations.
