Discontinue Flashcards

Q

Why is pressing TOGA for a discontinue not considered to be the best course of action and may not give the desired results?

A

Generally, it commands TOGA thrust, accelerates the airplane to VREF + 20 kt, and sequences the missed approach procedure in the FMS (if the TOGA button is pressed too early, it does not sequence the FMS).

Q

What’s the general flow for the discontinue procedure

A

The flow begins by terminating the approach (APP), moves from left to right across the guidance panel (lateral mode, airspeed, vertical mode), sequences the FMS, and finally configures the aircraft.
