What is the Neuraxis
The imaginary line through the center of the CNS
Define rostral (or anterior)
Towards the front
Define lateral
side
Define medial
middle
Define caudal (or posterior)
Towards the back
Define dorsal (or superior)
Towards the back
Define ventral (or interior)
Toward the belly (underneath)
What is strange about the neuraxis in humans?
It bends at a right degree angle at the brain
Where is the midsagittal plane?
Perpendicular to the floor down the middle of the body to create two symmetrical halves (left and right)
What is axial or medial cut?
Horizontal. Parallel to the floor
What is a coronal cut?
side of head (creates front and back halves)
Define ipsilateral
(something is) on the same side
Define contralateral
(something is) on the opposite side
