Digestion And Absorption Flashcards
What are the cells that line the surface of vili called ?
Enterocytes
Maximum absorption occurs in which part of small intestine?
Jejunum
max no. Of vili are Present
What are intestinal tonsils and where are they?
They are found in ileum region and called peyers patches (aggregated lymph nodes in mucosa of epithelium )
What is Auerbach’s nerve plexus ?
Also called myenteric plexus .
Initiate peristalsis between circular and longitudinal layer of muscularis.
What is meissners plexus
Also called submucosal plexus. Secrete epithelial mucosa between submucosal and circular layer .
Which layer is not present in oesophagus?
Serosa
What is omentum
Fold of peritoneum connecting stomach and other abdominal organs.
What are chief cells?
Also called peptic cells or Zymogen cells.
Secrete pepsinogen and prorennin.
And small amount of gastric lipase.
What are parietal cells?
Also called oxyntic cells. Secrete HCl and Castles intrinsic factor for absorption of castles extrinsic factor(vitB12)
Which cells are present under enteroendocrine cells?
Also called argentaffin cells . They are present in basal parts of gastric glands. D cells, enterochromaffin like cells, G cells.
What is the function of D cells?
Secrete somatostatin which acts on parietal or oxyntic cells to reduce acid secretion.
What is the function of enterochromaffin like cells?
Secrete serotonin -vasoconstrictor
And histamine - vasodilator
What is the function of G cells?
Secrete gastric hormone which stimulates secretion of pepsinogen and HCL .also induces insulin secretion.
Which is the longest part of small intestine?
Ileum
Which part of alimentary canal is well developed in rabbit?
Caecum
