Different Diseases Flashcards
What diseases are Autosomal Dominant?
Achondroplasia
Huntington’s disease
What diseases are Autosomal Recessive?
Sickle Cell Anemia
Cystic Fibrosis
Albinism
Tay Sack’s Disease
What diseases are Xlinked Dominant?
CGH (Congenital Hypertrichosis)
What diseases are Xlinked Recessive?
Hemophilia
Color Blindness
Duchenne Muscular Dystropy
What is Tay Sachs? What type of disease is it?
Disorder where nerve cells die in brain and spinal cord. Autosomal Recessive
What is Cystic Fibrosis
Autosomal Recessive,
When CFTR protein (found on cell wall) is absent, mutated or not enough of them. They allows chlorine to leave and enter cell.
No CFTR protein=chlorine can’t leave cell
Which Water moves into cell
No water out of cell, so mucus builds up around cell.
So, thick mucus clogs organs, such as the lungs, pancreas, and intestines.
Siclke Cell Anemia
Autosomal Recessive
Achondroplasia
(AKA. Dwarfism) Autosomal Dominant
What is Hemophilia
X-linked Recessive, when blood doesn’t clot properly because it doesn’t have enough blood clotting proteins. So person bleeds easier
Color Blindness
Xlinked Recessive
Muscular Dystrophy
Xlinked recessive,
Lacking protein called: dystrophen
What Huntington’s disease?
Autosomal dominant disorder
an inherited disorder that causes nerve cells (neurons) in parts of the brain to gradually break down and die.
What is Trisomy?
What is Downsyndrome
A type of trisomy (trisomy 21)
What is Albinism
