Different Cell Types Flashcards
What is the organization of living matter?
The cell, tissues, organs, organ systems, organism.
What is the purpose of cells?
Cells have different shapes and structures in order to carry out their different functions.
What are different cell types?
Epithelial cells, bone cells, red blood cells, white blood cells and nerve cells.
What are stem cells?
Stem cells are unspecialized cells.
What is the difference between specialized cells and unspecialized cells?
Specialized cells have unique structures and functions. Unspecialized cells or stem cells develop into specialized cells according to the demand of the body during pregnancy. They have also been found to re-grow damaged tissues and organs in the adult human body.
What are unicellular organisms?
Unicellular organisms consist of a single cell only.
What are multicellular organisms?
Multicellular organisms consist of many cells.
What are the different sources of stem cells?
Embryos, umbilical cord cells, blood cells and bone marrow cells.
What are different tissue types?
Cardiac muscle tissue, striated muscle tissue and smooth muscle tissue.
