What were the tactics for regaining South Korea?
UN troops entered Inchon via the sea and at the same time, South Korean forces pushed out of Pusan. This cut off North Korean supplies.

How did the war develop after the Inchon landing?
MacArthur decided to continue to fight deep into the North of Korea and towards the Yalu River.
Why were MacArthur’s actions so instrumental in the development of the war?
It stimulated the involvement of the Chinese. This massively escalated the war.
How did the Chinese respond?
On October 1950, they launched a 200,000 soldier attack leading to UN troops being pushed back past Seoul.
How did MacArthur respond to the events after Chinese involvement?
He wanted to use Atomic Bombs and attack the Chinese - however, they only regained Seoul and an armistice line was developed.
How did Truman respond to MacArthur’s actions?
In March 1951, MacArthur ignored UN instructions, threatening to attack China. In April he was sacked.
