He found penicillin bacteria had got onto the dish and penicillin was killing the staphylococci ( it was a mistake that he discovered it)

2 scientists became interested in it and when ww2 broke out they asked the government to fund the teams research
They saw that it was a powerful drug and with more of it, it could be very useful

There was growing amounts of casualties and penicillin was then needed urgently
So the us givenmet gave £80 million to 4 drug companies to find a way to mass produce it
