deve-early brain dev Flashcards

1
Q

descrive development of the midbrain forebrain and hindbrain

A

when foetus is abr 3-4 weeks old
- long tube develops in the brain which divides the front into three distinct round section, forebrain midbrain hindbrain
-below hindbrain forms the spinal cord

when 5 weeks old
- forebrain and hindbrain have split further into two cavities,
- forebrain splits into anterior and posterior secction and
-the hindbrain splits in the middle
-midbrain does not divide

Q

describe decelopment of the cerellum and medulla

A

cerebellum is seen in the foetus in 6cweeks, and a year after burth grows three times in sixe
-cerebellum controls physical skills possibly accounting for the growth of the cerebellum
-cerebellum also controls responses such as fear and in functions such as processing sense information

medulla oblongata
-located in the hindbrain in front of cerebllum
-controls involuntary responses such as sneezing breathing and hesrt rate
-forms at 20 weeks old of fortus connects rest of the vrain to the spinal cord

Q

describe forehead midbrain hindbrain

A

forehead
- the anterior part of he brain, invluding the hemispheres and the central brain structures

midbrain
- the middle section of the brains forming part of the central nervous system

hindbrain
-the lower part of the brain thst includes the cerebellum pons and medulla oblongata

Q

sescribe cerebellum and medulla oblongata

A

cerebllum
an area of the brsin near to the brainstem that controls motor movements

Q

what is involuntary response and neural connections

A

involuntary tesponse is a response to a stimulus that occurs without someone making a conscious choice, they are automatic such as reflexes

neural connections is links formed by messages passing from one nerve cell to another
