Irritant contact dermatitis is significantly more common in women than in men.
What causes dermatitis?
Dry air and temperature
Rubber gloves

Describe the pathogenisis of dermatitis
Irritant contact dermatitis is the clinical result of sufficient inflammation arising from the release of proinflammatory cytokines from skin cells (principally keratinocytes), usually in response to chemical stimuli.
Why are the hands and feet prone to dermatitis?
Because of the frequent contact with the hands and the warm environment that socks provide on the feet encourage fungal growth.
What would a person with dermatitis present with?
Red itchy rash, blisters, open sores, oozing, crusting, and scaling. Can be painful or itching, cracks and blisters on the skin
What are some complications of dermatitis?
Infection of lesions, scarring and hardening of skin
