Net Migration
The number of people entering a country (immigrants) minus the number of people leaving a country (emigrants) each year
Infant Mortality Rate
The number of deaths of children under the age of 1 per 1000 live births per year
Fertility Rate
The number of births per 1000 women aged 15-44 over a year
Birth Rate
The number of births per 1000 people over a year
Death/Mortality Rate
The number of deaths per 1000 people over a year
Dependency Ratio
The relationship between working (independent) and non-working (dependent) parts of the population
Replacement Level
The fertility rate needs to be 2.1 to replace the existing population. If it’s lower than 2.1, we will see an ageing population where there are more ‘aged’ than ‘young’ in a society
