EASA uses the following material (soft law) to implement the EU’s basic regulation and implementing rules (Hard law)

- CS >technical standards required (certification specification)
Crew member shall be responsible for the proper execution of his/her duties that are:
- related to the safety of the a/c and its occupants
- specified in the instructions and procedures in the OM
Crew member shall report to PIC
- any failure that effect the airworthiness/safe operation of the AC
- any incident that could endanger the safety
- comply with the occurence reporting schemes
- comply with all flight and duty limitations
Crew member shall NOT perform duties:
- Under Influence of alcohol
- When unfit due to injury or fatigue or sickness
- After deep water diving or blood donation
- Medical requirements (med class 1)
- If in any doubt of being able to accomplish the duties
- If you know or suspect suffering from fatigue or feel unfit.
Crew member shall not
- consume alcohol less than 8 hours prior flight duty or start of standby
- start flight duty period with a blood alcohol level in excess of 0.2 prom
- consume alcohol during flight duty period or while on standby
Safety culture
it reflects the real commitment to safety at all levels in the company
- how an organization behaves when no one is watching
- combined effect of organizational, professional and national culture
- can be positive, negative or neutral
- what do my superiors and colleagues think about safety
- negative safety culture results in: cutting corners, unsafe decision and increased risks.
EASA Flight limitations
- duty period: reporting time until signing out
- flight duty period: reporting time until BLOCKS ON
- window of circadian low: during night when your body wants to sleep 02:00-05:59
- SCD Commanders discretion: extended FDP by 2hours for unforeseen circumstances
The commander needs to determine, before departure, if the AC can arrive on-blocks within the max FDP (CSD subject).
rest time?
Minimum rest at home base: 12h
Minimum rest away from home base: 10h
If arrival is not within the MAX FDP including commanders discretion > write an ASR

Flaps and slats: hydraullic system B
