Cystography Positioning Flashcards
What is the SID for cystography images?
40”
Where is the CR for an AP bladder cystography image?
Perpendicular to MSP, entering at a level 2-3” above the upper border of the pubic symphysis
Where would the CR be located for an AP bladder voiding cystography image?
Perpendicular to MSP at the level of the pubic symphysis
How is the patient positioned for an AP bladder cystography image?
Supine with no rotation of the body
How many degrees may the CR angled to get a better image for an AP bladder cystography image?
10-15 degrees caudal
What breath are cystography images taken?
Suspended expiration
What structures are seen for an AP bladder cystography image?
- Visualization of the distal ends of the ureters, bladder, and proximal urethra
- No rotation of the pelvis
- Contrast media seen in the bladder
Where is the CR for an RPO/LPO cystography image?
Perpendicular to MSP, entering at a level 2-3” above the upper border of the pubic symphysis and 2” medial to the upper ASIS
how many degrees may the CR be angled to better visualize the bladder neck and proximal urethra?
10 degrees caudal
How many degrees is the patient rotated for an RPO/LPO cystography image?
40-60 degrees
What are the structures seen for an RPO/LPO cystography image?
- Visualization of the distal end of the ureters, bladder, and proximal urethra
- Contrast media seen in bladder
- No superimposition of bladder by uppermost thigh
Where is the CR for a right/left lateral cystography image?
Perpendicular entering at a level 2-3” above the upper border of the pubic symphysis at midcoronal plane
How is the patient positioned for a right/left lateral cystography image?
Patient is in lateral recumbent with knees flexed
What structures are seen for a right/left lateral cystography image?
- Visualization of the distal ends of the ureters, bladder, and proximal urethra
- No rotation of the pelvis
- Contrast seen in bladder
- Bladder and distal ureters visible through pelvis
- Superimposed hips and femurs
