Left ventricular hypertrophy, males, hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia
What are some factors that BMI doesn’t take into account that are important for CVD risk assessment?
Body composition, ethnicity, age
Explain WHR
Waist : hip ratio. Gives an indication of fat distribution and can identify central obesity.
What do the absolute risk factor charts predict?
The risk of an individual having a cardiovascular event in the next 5 years
Name the factors that the CVD risk charts account for (6)

- systolic BP
- cholesterol
- ## smoking status
Name a few factors that the CVD risk charts do not account for.
Family history, undiagnosed diabetes, previous CV event, conditions when BP was recorded, degree of smoking, etc.
