a person or group of people who have an interest in a business or are affected by business activity
e. g. stakeholders in a school:
- students
- teachers and employees
- parents
- local community
- local authority
What are we all stakeholders in?
the society in which we live

responsibility of stakeholders and technology
all stakeholders have responsibility to:
- user computer equipment ethically and not use it to harm others
- protect the environment and dispose of old equipment in the correct way
the digital divide
the gap between people who use technology and those who don’t
this could be caused by:
- lack of access to broadband
- being unable to afford to access it
- low IT literacy
problems with the digital divide
many employers require good computer skills
jobseekers who lack these skills many find it difficult to gain employment
employment and technology (3)
many companies now allow employees to work from home using cloud based software
many technology jobs have moved abroad, where costs are cheaper
less jobs require manual, low skilled work, and more require high-skilled work - such as the maintenance of automated systems
How has mobile technology affected communication?
allows wider communication as it is not restricted to expensive infrastructure (telephone lines)
mobile communications include:
- voice, text and media messages
- video conferencing
- emails
- social networking
