    test: crease forehead, keep eyes closed against resistance, puff out cheeks, reveal teeth (smile big)

Sensory:

  • balance (vestibular nerve), hearing (cochlear nerve)
    test: vibration from tuning fork against forehead and mastoid process to test in ears

  • taste to posterior 3rd of tongue, swallowing
    test: gag reflex or by touching arches of pharynx

    test: observe uvula while patient says “ahhh”
