Cranial Nerves 🥵 Flashcards
CN 1, olfactory nerve travels through what foramina?
Cribriform Foramina
Describe the route of Cranial nerves III, IV and VI on the way to the orbital cavity?
Passes through the Cavernous Sinus, through the superior orbital fissure into the orbital cavity
Describe how a person with an oculomotor nerve lesion would present?
Ptosis, eye position of ‘down and out’, dilated pupil (parasympathetic action)
What muscle is innervated by the Trochlear nerve (CN IV) and in turn how would a patient present with a lesion in this nerve?
Superior oblique muscle, they’d have difficulty moving eye downwards when it was inwards (adducted)
What is the only cranial nerve arising from the back of the brain stem?
Trochlear Nerve
What muscle does Abducens nerve innervate and in turn how would a patient present with a lesion to this nerve?
Lateral rectus muscle, the eye would adducted (inwards) as the muscle is responsible for abducting the eye. This nerve most likely to be effected by raised ICP
