explaining antidepressants
SSRIs are relatively safe with few side effects. However, some of
the commonly reported ones are diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, and
restlessness. Most of these side effects go away after a few days.
Some people have also experienced sexual problems such as
decreased sex drive and difficulty having an orgasm, but remember
that depression in itself can contribute to these problems
as well.
explaining ECT
ECT has had a bad image in the past, but advances in treatment
have made it a very safe treatment option
Before ECT, you will be given an anaesthetic to put you to sleep
so you will not feel any pain during the treatment. You will also
be given a medication to relax your muscles. An anaesthetist will
be present during the treatment to monitor you.
