Breaks up mucus (more watery), easier to expel

Anticholinergic drugs?
Chorpheniramine, Loratidine
Anticholinergic mechanism of action?
- Suppresses local histamine activity by competitive inhibition of H1 receptors
- Relieves nasal congestion

- Drowsiness (generation 1)
* Dry mouth, increased appetite

Pseudoephedrine

Relieves local vasodilation and oedeoma
