Q

correlation coefficient

A

tells us the strength of a relationship between two variables and refers to a number between -1 and +1 and tells us the direction of the correlation

strength of correlations

A

identify relationships between variables without manipulating behavior so it can be used in situations where experiments would be impossible or un ethical

Q

weakness of correlations

A

cause and effect can’t be established, correlations only show a relationship between variables so we need further research to establish a C&E

Q

steps for calculating Spearman’s Rho

A
  1. rank the data from lowest to highest (each variable separate)
  2. calculate difference between ranks
  3. square the difference between ranks
  4. sum the squared differences
